Hidden Treasure – Luagan Lalak Forestry Recreation Park
About 25 kilometers up the Labi Road, you will come across the Luagan Lalak Forestry Recreation Area. The forest reserve is on the roadside and you can drive up to the entrance of the park and enjoy the beauty straight away. Luagan Lalak Forestry Recreation Park covers some 270ha within the Labi Hills Forest Reserve. Luagan Lalak Forestry Recreation Park is important as the location of a rare alluvial freshwater swamp, or empran. During rainy periods, the entrapped water level rises, filling the area like a lake. In drier spells, the waters recede quickly, and the valley flourishes with sedge-predominantly the Lepironia species. Apart from shelters and footpaths for exploration, a 200 metre wooden walkway meanders along the lake area.

Around the area, there are footpaths leading down to the lake and also a barbecue place at the top where you can watch the beautiful views. There are also shelters and seats for visitors.

Unfortunately the wooden walkways are not as well maintained
A wooden walkway which spans the lake. The shelter in the middle of the lake was inaccessible as the walkway needs repairing.
Fantastic views of the swamp
